In all seriousness though – I love a good tale that involves a bit of scandal, a little bit of romance, and a lot of intrigue. Du Maurier’s books have it all, and they’re all told in this eerily captivating way that will have you on the edge of your seat from page one to the very end.
Something about the stars in the late evening, chasing away the sun, is my idea of freedom. It’s where the day washes away, and you can reinvent yourself should you choose. Or, if you prefer, you can stay the same.
What is it that makes you fall in love? Is it comfort? Security? Pleasure? Happiness? Beauty? I’m noticing a trend here. Many of the things that are characteristics of the people we fall in love with are also characteristics of the places we fall in love with.
A quick tourist note - if you want to dodge over-priced museum cafes, Caffè Tropea is incredibly close to the British Museum. It's a great spot to stop and recharge after a full day of sight-seeing.
