By the end of my first European trip, and my mother will never let me live this down, I said, "Are we going to ever see anything other than churches and dead people?" Meaning, consistently touring old cathedrals, catacombs and crypts. Well mum, it's safe to say that I understand the desire to see all of the churches now.
As someone who is a complete and utter hopeless romantic, I find that whilst the physical is a big aspect of relationships for me, that’s not what I’m craving most. It’s the emotional intimacy, being able to know someone and how they think, inside and out.
What is it that makes you fall in love? Is it comfort? Security? Pleasure? Happiness? Beauty? I’m noticing a trend here. Many of the things that are characteristics of the people we fall in love with are also characteristics of the places we fall in love with.
